That’s the name of the new art piece that completes the 8045 Newell Street Condominiums project. The developer Patriot group chose artist Heidi Lippman to create this artwork as part of their public amenity that is required by park and planning and the Silver Spring sector plan. The art shines at night as well. More of Heidi Lippman works can be found here. The art piece is located at the intersection of Newell and Kennett Streets in downtown Silver Spring. Please comment on what you think of it!

  1. I think it looks alot better at night. I hope that other future condo communities include such interesting artwork.

  2. I agree, it looks better at night, but I disagree that future condo communities should include more of it. MoCo. has a 30 year legacy of incredible public art, resulting from Optional Method of Development projects. Enoughs Enough. What our urban areas need more of are community amenities that activate our streets. Spaces for non-profits, art galleries, dance/art studios. These types of spaces would compliment our public art fabric, making our communities safer (By activating them more) and more unique.

  3. Residents in Silver Spring are fortunate to have inspiring art among our homes and businesses. Transforma/Transforma is both reflective and translucent by design and construction. The image transforms glass into “fabric” while the composition traps vortices of energy into pools of serenity. The summer early morning light illuminates a rectangle of intensity framed on three sides by a base of calm coolness.
