Silver Spring’s rebirth has been one interesting roller coaster ride that’s still in motion. From Mega Mall to the Downtown Silver Spring mixed-use project and AFI rehabilitates and opens its east coast operations in the historic Silver Theatre. Just as things couldn’t get better, we witness the unparalleled move of Discovery Communications to its brand new world headquarters.

The revitalization has brought over 20 real estate development projects either planned, under construction or completed in the central business district alone. Some of these projects will make a positive impact on Silver Spring’s image and improve on its unique character. Others will make you wonder what went wrong and leave a lot to be desired. The Silver Spring Scene thought it would be a good idea to rate these projects, coming soon, we’ll list what we think are some of the best and worst projects planned to change the skyline of downtown Silver Spring.
