United Therapeutics Opens New Biotech Lab in Downtown Silver Spring

One of the most profitable biotechnology firms in the state opened its new lab in downtown Silver Spring at the corner of Spring and Cameron streets. The 10 year old United Therapeutics completed phase one of its headquarters campus that will include a private pedestrian bridge in the form of a DNA double helix or “silver spring”, Plasma TV’s teaching medical science, cubes that glow when you sit on them and retail space. The lab will produce the medical drugs Remodulin and OvaRex Mab. Remodulin is used to treat ovarian cancer, OvaRex Mab is in the final phase three of clinical trials. The high performance green building will have the largest photovoltaic cells (solar panels) inside the beltway.
