Hurricane Katrina victims and others gathered outside the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in downtown Silver Spring. “Climate Emergency Council coordinator Ted Glick says the event was held there because NOAA (NOH’-uh) denies a connection between global warming and stronger, more destructive hurricanes, pointed to by recent studies.”

20+ Story Office Tower Proposed

The owner of the current RiteAid FedEx-Kinkos shopping center site along East-West Highway is planning a 20+ story office tower. The site is currently zoned CBD-3. If the rumors are true it would be tallest building in downtown Silver Spring.
