Ike Leggett has been the talk of the town with publications like the Washington Post, releasing back to back articles on our new County Exectutive.
In this week alone,
- Biz Journal reports on thursday that Ike Leggett has fired the economic development chief of Montgomery County, David Edgerley. In his tenure he county saw unprecedented growth in it’s history. The county embarked on the $1 billion revitalization of downtown Silver Spring, the $350 million Rockville Town Square project set to deliver in 2007 and a program that established the [essential and advantageous] incubator facilities for startup businesses, said the Biz Journal. It will be interesting to see who takes his place and what the top agenda will be.
- As reported up the pike, Leggett hosted a series of town hall meetings gathering input from the community, although one-sided. Creator of the blog Just Up The Pike gives Leggett “an earful” to the dismay of most attendees in the room.
- The firing continues as Leggett gave the pink slip to several county officials from the Douglas M. Duncan camp.
Make Up Your Mind Old Dominion
Touched upon not too long ago and reported by posters on the Silver Spring Scene as well as Sligo from the Silver Spring Singular, it may well be that the Old Dominion Brewing company is finally saying “no†to Downtown Silver Spring. The website no longer lists the brewing company as a future tenant.
While some posters like ihateyuppies suggest the county may have withheld a liquor license from the company, several entertainment spots like McGinty’s Public House were announced well after Old Dominion’s first appearance.
A suggestion to the brewing company…Open up shop or release the space to a more dedicated tenant who doesn’t take almost two years to make a decision. Several potential clients have probably been missed because of the hold up.
