Happy Blogiversary Silver Spring Scene!

By Silver Springer • Jan 28th, 2007 • Category: Uncategorized

152 reports later, it’s been a full year since the Silver Spring Scene’s inception. With no other media sources covering prominent issues in depth with opinionated content, the Silver Spring Scene is an original blog that was started out of a passion and concern for Silver Spring, Maryland, an area with unrealized potential that is finally starting to unravel.

As a resident of the Maryland Capital Region for over 22 years, I’ve watched a neglected downtown become one that is now active and vibrant once again, places that I thought would never change are making surprising comebacks in more ways than one. The revitalization of downtown Silver Spring is a fascinating story that when compared, is impressive even on the national level.

But feeling that there were urgent issues not being addressed which could potentially derail long-term economic prosperity, the Silver Spring Scene was created as an outlet for exposing problems and accomplishments that have gone unnoticed to a wider audience. The purpose was and is to help make a great place even better.

The blog has covered economic development activities all over Silver Spring from Studio Plaza to the Silver Spring Transit Center, from art galleries to community issues. Practically anything found interesting about Silver Spring and sometimes beyond; the blog has tried to bring unique content.

The blogiversary of Silver Spring Scene marks the beginning of some big changes, first you can now reach the blog at www.SilverSpringScene.com, and soon a new website with greater content will be available on the triple S. For now the site has been updated to the newest version of blogger.

The Silver Spring Scene would have been abandoned long ago if not for the outstanding readership and dedicated posters that keep it energized and keep me blogging. Thank you for coming back and making it worthwhile!
