Day Care Required Before Office Tower Can Commence

The City Place Office Tower must clear a few hurdles before it can begin construction. Under one unusual condition, the applicant must provide and manage a child-day care facility through a publicly owned or privately donated site.

The condition was resurrected from the 1989 site plan.

If demand does not warrant a day-care facility or no site can be found a contribution of $150,000 must be made to M-NCPPC for land acquisitions or improvements to the Silver Spring CBD.

Chevy Chase Bank was required to build the Round House Theater space in Bethesda in order to construct twin 250’ feet office buildings above the height limit of 200’ feet. The Bank owned by B.F. Saul could complete its de facto headquarters at those heights through a text amendment.
