I would like everyone to take a moment of silence for another Silver Spring staple that has recently left us for good.

There’s some buzz on the South Silver Spring Neighborhood Association listserv about 7930 Georgia Avenue going for sale, not sure if It’s the entire block bounded by of Georgia and Eastern Avenues but for $1.2 million it better be.
I like some of the business in the dilapidated structure(s) so I hope they’re not pushed out [...]

Last week the JBG construction guys took down the blue crane from Silver Spring Gateway site, leaving only one. The project looks to be topped out. I shed a tear for the blue crane but the good news is that another crane has popped up at the Montgomery College Performing Arts Center Site.

Keeping an optimistic attitude, I’m going to make some lemonade with some so called lemons. After some digging, several points actually reveal that the Fillmore is a good deal for Silver Spring,  
 Exclusivity. When all is said and done (if they go as planned), there will be three Birchmere venues in the D.C. area but only [...]

Golf Etc opens in downtown Silver Spring. According to the website this is their only store in the immediate D.C. area. Too bad Indian Spring Golf Course is now McMansionville and the Sligo course is in limbo. A golf store in Silver Spring is a good indication the that the “preps” are moving in.
