Hook and Ladder moves into downtown

Hook and LadderAs promised Hook & Ladder Brewing Company has moved their headquarters from somewhere in Northern Silver Spring (Forest Glen area I believe) and into downtown.

There’s a little sign hanging above the entrance at 8113 Fenton Street. Peaking inside it looks like they’ve taken most of the ground floor.

As most of you know, Hook & Ladder Brewing Company has taken over the old Silver Spring Firehouse on Georgia Ave and next to Pieces of Silver Spring clothing boutique and Bell Flowers.

The plan is to turn it into a Brewery/Restaurant (most likely a flagship location) and open sometime in the middle of the summer.

Cheers to another growing addition to the wide array of businesses in Silver Spring, hopefully they don’t sell the farm anytime soon.

    Even bigger cheers when the bar actually opens.

    Hopefully, they won’t have a problem acquiring that ever-elusive liquor license. When I was in Annapolis last month, the liquor-retail lobby gave a microbrewery planned for Wicomico County a hard time with their license.

    The lobbyist didn’t like the idea of a manufacturer doubling as a retailer. Whatever.

    My guess is H&L will need a lot of help getting open — by next winter, not this summer.

    Ask the people at Olazzo (or any other place that has opened in SS after LONG delays) how hard it is to get all the necessary approvals. Montgomery County clearly does all it can to hamper entreprenuers
