When Borders book store first opened it was nice place to go, meet up with friends and be able to pick from a diverse selection, now you can find about as much to purchase on dressing up a book as finding a book to read. But it’s not enough to keep Silver Springers away.

100′feet wide but only 16′feet for the public, according to the Action Committee for Transit the Capital Crescent Trail is being used “rent free” by the Columbia Country Club.

It’s the age-old question; should Silver Spring become an incorporated city, town, or whatever? One with a mayor and its own local government? The bigger question is what would be the point? Furthermore would it have a negative or positive impact on Silver Spring?

You’ll just have to wait. A night of countless presentations and testimonies didn’t bring a verdict to the fate of two issues in contradiction. The decision on whether the 1938 Falkland Apartments, North Parcel would be spared from the wrecking ball or if developer Home Properties would be able to move forward and build the largest residential project in Silver Spring in recent times, was left open ended as the planning board takes more time to sort it all out.

Chalk another one up for the locally based shops in the Downtown Silver Spring project. Perhaps I’m really, really late on this since they claim they’ve been open since November and if so I apologize in advance but I couldn’t find any info on the other blogs.

A reader has pointed out that the Vietnamese cuisine serving My-Le Restaurant, located at 8077 Georgia Ave is getting a makeover and a new name. Apparently (according to the reader) the place was set on fire closing it down for a few.
