By Silver Springer • Sep 29th, 2008 • Category: Arts, Food and Entertainment, Business and Economic Development, MORE NEWS, Real Estate

If you guessed that the planned Hook and Ladder Brewery and Restaurant wouldn’t make it in time for Oktoberfest then you guessed right.
Silver Spring based Hook and Ladder Brewing Co. was suppose to open in the middle of the summer and those plans were pushed to October. With the month right around the corner it’s [...]

Live Nation Lays an Egg

While I support a music hall coming to Silver Spring in the hopes that it will boost its economic condition and allow it to stand tall and proud in this competitive region, as well as nationally, but if their simply going to dump the bread crumbs all year round than I think it’s going to fall short of expectations.

A Metamorphosis in Downtown Silver Spring

By Silver Springer • Jul 7th, 2008 • Category: Arts, Food and Entertainment, MORE NEWS

Chalk another one up for the locally based shops in the Downtown Silver Spring project. Perhaps I’m really, really late on this since they claim they’ve been open since November and if so I apologize in advance but I couldn’t find any info on the other blogs.
Isn’t it great to see more small businesses like [...]

By Silver Springer • Jun 17th, 2008 • Category: Arts, Food and Entertainment, Business and Economic Development, Real Estate

A reader has pointed out that the Vietnamese cuisine serving My-Le Restaurant, located at 8077 Georgia Ave is getting a makeover and a new name. Apparently (according to the reader) the place was set on fire closing it down for a few.

I love cars so I was quite surprised to get this e-mail. Didn’t think Silver Spring would host anything remotely close to its own car [...]

The perfect venue for City Place

By Silver Springer • Mar 27th, 2008 • Category: Arts, Food and Entertainment

I’m tired…tired of stuffing my face. That’s about the most you can do in downtown Silver Spring’s shopping district (and also why PFA won’t allow anymore restaurants), save for places like Galaxy Billiards.
With the departure of Time Out there’s a significant void left in City Place Mall, the new ownership (Petrie Ross Ventures) has proposed [...]

Hook and Ladder moves into downtown

By Silver Springer • Mar 17th, 2008 • Category: Arts, Food and Entertainment, Business and Economic Development

As promised Hook & Ladder Brewing Company has moved their headquarters from somewhere in Northern Silver Spring (Forest Glen area I believe) and into downtown.
There’s a little sign hanging above the entrance at 8113 Fenton Street. Peaking inside it looks like they’ve taken most of the ground floor.
As most of you know, Hook & Ladder [...]
