In 1992 City Place Mall opened its doors to waiting patrons and news cameras. A new space integrated with the old Hecht?s building, it featured one of the strongest art deco facades in Silver Spring and defining architecture from the late 80s ? early 90s.



My-Le Resurrection

A reader has pointed out that the Vietnamese cuisine serving My-Le Restaurant, located at 8077 Georgia Ave is getting a makeover and a new name. Apparently (according to the reader) the place was set on fire closing it down for a few.

Investigators have pinned this one down as arson but the resurrection of the restaurant [...]

It looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer to get a piece of the Discovery pie, as their IPO has been delayed to the third quarter of 2008. Anyone wants to guess how much the pricing per share will be? First quarter revenue for Discovery Communications jumped 12% to $795million.

Starting where the County left off, another incubator, this time from the private sector opens in Silver Spring.
In an incubator, small business share resources like copiers, receptionists and kitchen space. They get reduced rents, legal counsel, business and marketing help, and build ties with other incubators they share space with.

Hook and Ladder moves into downtown

As promised Hook & Ladder Brewing Company has moved their headquarters from somewhere in Northern Silver Spring (Forest Glen area I believe) and into downtown.

Silver Spring Office Market Report; 4th Qtr 2007

For the past three years Silver Spring has led the primary submarkets in Montgomery County with the lowest office vacancy rate.
