As promised Hook & Ladder Brewing Company has moved their headquarters from somewhere in Northern Silver Spring (Forest Glen area I believe) and into downtown.
There’s a little sign hanging above the entrance at 8113 Fenton Street. Peaking inside it looks like they’ve taken most of the ground floor.
As most of you know, Hook & Ladder [...]

All you gotta do is try your best

By Silver Springer • Mar 7th, 2008 • Category: Business and Economic Development, Government and Politics

So National Public Radio (NPR) says they aren’t coming to Silver Spring, big deal…I’m not sweating it because it really wasn’t about NPR in first place. Replace NPR with ‘X’ organization and you would have seen that logo on my homemade petition banner.

Let’s not forget that ten years ago any recognizable firm would have been [...]

By Silver Springer • Feb 6th, 2008 • Category: Business and Economic Development, Government and Politics

County executive Leggett emphasized what he wants his constituents to keep in mind about the facility that will act as the Fillmore music hall…the County is paying for it, so we own it and we we’re going to use it.

Hearing Mr. Leggett speak he is particularly vexed at traveling to Prince George’s County for Montgomery [...]

Will it ever end!!!

By Silver Springer • Feb 4th, 2008 • Category: Business and Economic Development, Government and Politics

First off my condolences to the families of Marilyn Praisner and Gene Lynch, their deaths were truly unexpected.
I didn’t see eye to eye with either on a number of issues but I’m glad I was at least able to talk face to face with Ms. Praisner even though it was in opposition to her [...]

Discovery Goes Public

By Silver Springer • Dec 14th, 2007 • Category: Business and Economic Development, Government and Politics

Ok so the rumors are true, the day has finally come, and our beloved Discovery is going public. What does this mean? I’m not sure.

The good news is that I’m prepared to buy up lots of company stock. Oh and Maryland will most likely have another Fortune 500 company on its list (“in the open”). I’ve been [...]

From west to east, Bethesda, Silver Spring and Hyattsville [...]

By Silver Springer • Nov 29th, 2007 • Category: Business and Economic Development, Government and Politics

Dear County Executive Ike Leggett,
I have sat idle for the past several months as discussions unraveled
regarding the Silver Spring music venue dispute. As the headlines
continue to ensue, I feel as though it is now time for me to comment.
It disturbs me that Seth Hurwitz is portraying himself as the “small
guy” in area media. I, along [...]
